Moth on a Blade
Love does not always land where it is safe. Sometimes, it rests on something sharp—drawn by instinct, by longing, by the hope that even the hardest surfaces can hold warmth. "Moth on a Blade" is a photographic exploration of tenderness where it does not belong, of love found in the unlikeliest of places, of vulnerability pressed against something unyielding.
My intention was to reflect the tension between softness and cruelty. The photographs distort and fracture, like a broken mirror reflecting fragile moments—a calloused hand trembling at an unexpected touch, a face blurred in motion as if caught between retreat and surrender, shadows stretching over skin like scars. These are not images of love in its gentle embrace, but love against its nature—love despite, not because.
There is a certain tragedy in seeking warmth from something cold, in loving something that has only ever known how to wound. A butcher’s hands do not forget the blade, and yet, in a fleeting instant, even the most hardened fingers might hesitate. This project captures that hesitation, that impossible tenderness—the moth that lands, knowing the edge is near, but resting there anyway.
